CHA Releases Discount Health Care Industry Report
Today, the Consumer Health Alliance (CHA) released a first-of-its-kind industry report and survey which highlights the membership and value discount health care programs bring to both consumers and providers.
The complete report, titled "Discount Health Care Programs: Evolution and Prospects for Continued Growth," features data from a consumer and provider survey which focuses on discount dental plans, discount vision plans, dental insurance and vision insurance. The national survey was commissioned by CHA and conducted by health care research and consulting firm Leavitt Partners.
Data and key information featured in the report include:
• Nearly 27 million Americans are members of a discount health care program.
• Membership demographics, how discount health care programs work, and the key differences between discount plans and insurance.
• Both consumers and providers report that more than 70% of discount dental program members and more than 65% of discount vision program members save over 40% on services (with median savings of 50 – 60%).
• Expert insights and industry trends that will support the continued growth and usage of discount programs, such as consumer-directed care and the current health care marketplace.
